In the US, it is mostly old people who can’t figure out that a debit card comes from the same account, or don’t understand how the concept of “virtual” payments work. A lot of stores don’t even accept checks anymore, but a lot of the smaller local shops still do.

Heaven forbid you get behind someone who pays with a check, then all bets are off. Seriously, why do people still write checks at grocery stores? Just use a debit card, it’s all the same account anyway!
