Am I the only one who runs without AV software? I've never had issues for the last couple of years at least. I still run malware scans occasionally just to make sure I didn't pick anything up. Between that and my IPS Linux firewall box, I think I should be okay. I used to run whatever the most lightweight application

Interesting. Didn't know that, but that makes perfect sense. I never like to use ammonia based window cleaners on my car windows anyway, so I wonder if that is what would ruin a plastic windscreen on a bike. I'll stick with Invisible Glass with a nice coat of RainX.

I seriously use Windex to clean up just about everything. I always have a bunch of it on hand. Vinegar gets my vote as well.

And I just thought that was for dusting old furniture. Never thought it would work on windscreens. I might have to try this on my car.

Also great for removing pet stains.

Omnidirectional; yes, but you are still pointing the antenna in a particular plane (horizontal or verticle) the signal goes out in all directions but it is concentrated in more of a oval shape, whereas directional antennas concentrate signal very precisely usually 20-30 degrees of coverage.

That is a good point. Some router models may also use different antenna's for different frequencies so you would want both the 5ghz and 2.4GHz pointing in the same plane. But this becomes a moot point with most home/home office AP's as the antenna's are mostly internal now. And then you have other MIMO routers that

My favorite app pack for my favorite mobile OS! I'm going to share this with everyone, since I already use a majority of the apps featured on here. Of course that is probably because I've been following this site for so long that I've come to adopt most of these apps into my daily life.

This is one of those great apps that I actually paid for on Android. Nice to see the new interface. The old one was a bit clunky.

That is similar to what I do. I keep a separate on-site bag with network testers, pliers, screwdrivers, cables, and other stuff I don't want to carry around all day. It says in my car until I need it. On me I always carry pocket knife, Leatherman multitool, LED flashlight, and a 4-in-1 screwdriver goes in my edc

Wow this looks pretty similar to what I have in my pack, a lot of tools for taking servers apart and such. I try to minimize what I carry with me every day, so most of my larger and heavier tools go in a separate bag that stays in the trunk of my car. Then when I am onsite I can just grab the extra bag out of my car

I love visiting a local winery wherever I go. I end up finding a lot of great wines this way and you support the local small businesses.

And I actually know someone who got a ticket for 2 over in the city of Sheboygan. They had signs up that said "strict speed enforcement in effect" and they were pulling over anyone even approaching 26 in a 25. Glad they stopped doing that. They were on that tangent for about a year.

lol the tickets are split up into categories 1-10 over was the category I was in. I actually got clocked 41 in a 35. The other times it was more like 8-10 over. But still, pretty stupid and a waste of time.

I've had about 5 speeding tickets in the state of WI. All of them were for going 1-10mph over the limit. So it really depends on where you are. South Dakota? 20 over and no one gives a crap.

lol woops I just saw that.

My old Passat was the worst at this. I removed the filter from the engine bay, not the bottom of the car. Spilled oil all over everything. My Legacy makes it way easier.

Gotta love a woman with a ham radio! Now that is a rare breed!

Whatever you guys do just keep doing what you do best because I love coming here. Such a valuable resource...as well as a time killer at the office.

I do tend to like the direction Lifehacker is headed, and I really like seeing the sub-blog for twocents. Maybe create a sub-blog for self-improvement hacks? Specifically, articles about career and learning, and family / social life improvement. With that said I'd have to agree with others on here that I really do
