Dude, he was screaming at her. He started sarcastically and rudely. And he beat someone up over jaywalking. Have you ever been in a position of power? If jaywalking were a real fucking problem, he should have said, "please move to the sidewalk; you're jaywalking," and then moved to the next step if she hadn't…
Arizona is a papers-please state.
just leaving this here:
"Papers. Now." Sound familiar? I'm really amazed at all the people blind enough to defend this thug's actions and his corrupt institution in general. The police have way too much power and authority over us and we've enabled them by remaining silent. They have to be held accountable.
As a non-American: why do the police patrol a college campus and don't they have something important to do? The things that police is actually responsible for? For example, I remember a little girl, Isabel Celis who was abducted out of her bedroom and probably sold in sex trafficking. Isn't THAT what police should do??
These incidents are going to stop when someone gets tired of this shit and just shoots a stupid pig in the face. Honestly, I can't wait for that to go down. Deep down, I'm really aching for some vigilante justice against these mother fuckers. They deserve it all. The good ones for perpetuating this shit by keeping…
Reminds me of this: http://reason.com/blog/2014/02/2…
but you can bet absolutely NOTHING will happen to him. police departments all over the country back up their officers 99% of the time and that includes "accidentally" killing people. especially black people. the police in this country are OUT OF CONTROL and heaven help you if you're african-american. even the rare…
You know that pig saw her and decided it would be fun to take an uppity black woman down a peg. He should lose his job and be charged with battery.
typical campus almost-a-cop.
I get your point. But when you are repeatedly stopped when others aren't (see the video for the other jaywalkers) and you feel targeted because of your race or gender, it's hard to be polite and cooperative after multiple incidents like this.
"I can't see any reason to conduct a formal stop, or to demand ID."
That officer should be fired, or at least severely disciplined. A big part of your job as a police officer is to de-escalate situations. You shouldn't escalate the smallest of situations into a full blown confrontation. If a police officer is slamming someone to the ground as a result of a jaywalking stop, the…
He could have NOT profiled her and NOT gone after her for a stupid ticket. He was just flexing his ego. And yes, if he was trained properly he would have given her respect and then he would have gotten respect back. But he had to be the big bad college cop.
If you're outraged by this story, consider donating a few dollars to Prof. Ore's legal defense. Contrary to what many folks think, professors don't make a lot of money, and Prof. Ore is paying off — like so many of us — lots of student loans. Even just a few dollars would help: http://www.erslegaldefense.com/
Or idk go do something actually important and not a fucking waste of time. OOOH JAYWALKING!
YES!
When a campus cop tells a woman hes going to slam her on the car if she doesnt obey him, and the college thinks thats perfectly ok, there is seriously something very wrong with that college.
well, I mean, she was walking while black, so...what did she expect was gonna happen?
