It’s a shit way to abuse developers, customers, and business partners, but I completely understand the perverse pride that comes from working through sucky conditions. It’s an ugly baby, but it’s theirs.

‘GameMill’, how appropriate.

While some fans are trouncing MJ’s vehicular oopsie as developer Insomniac Games “not [understanding] the assignment”

I don’t think these problems go away as long as shareholders are involved. If you’re having to show continual and never ending growth each quarter/year/whatever, you will inevitably run into a situation like they did with Cyberpunk where you have to make compromises that you may not want to make.

Baldur’s Gate Early Access was three years ago. No one cared that it took almost three years from that already playable point because the final game is great.

This shouldn’t have even been a revelation in the first place. Everyone should know the business model; Good, Cheap, and fast, but you can only choose 2. guess which one they chose only it wasn’t cheap.

The South Park guys have never been progressive.  They are “both sides” libertarians. They have always had some shitty views on some things

The best critique of South Park and one that’s come the closest to explaining why it rubs me the wrong way is that they always take the side of “not caring”. The end result is always that caring about anything is dumb and “both sides” are bad if either of them actually care.

Not to dash your hopes or anything, but Maher is a boomer-lite autocrat that prefers liberal autocracy to conservative autocracy (‘conservative autocrat’ = Dennis Miller). Those two dudes are birds of the same feather, just simping for different billionaires.

This gets to an interesting thing that happens where I LOVE that these things can happen for the same reason the end of this article talks about it being awesome, but I absolutely LOATHE playing with people in BG3 after these things happen.

That is both hilarious and awesome! I honest wish more writers would just come right out and say that.

It was definitely 160GB last night. My guess is that the reason I had a 34GB update waiting this morning is that they’d uploaded the entire game in error, and switched it to a more demo-sized version today.

There’s a big gap between saying absolutely nothing and providing deep insights on contemporary cop culture. Video games aren’t films but they can still make an effort. Helldivers had a smirky twinkle to it that riffed on the politics of Starship Troopers. I don’t expect that or better from a Robocop game, but if there

That could mean that the entire game is locked off in the Demo. Modders could unlock it?

He was right, at least from the Scottish/Gaelic side of it. The ‘sith’ in Cait Sith is the same as in Ban Sith, which you might know better with the English respelling ‘banshee’. Ban Sith = ‘ban shee’, Cait Sith = ‘kat shee’.

Biggest money saving they could do is dump the CEO. Their email was a waste of time and money and I am willing to be he delegates 90% of anything he is supposed to do. He probably delegated writing the email.

I wonder if this layoff was in any way brought on by the escalating unionization efforts in the game industry. Layoffs are a great way to get rid of “troublemakers” and scare your employees into submission.

Yeah, this is 100% “tencent isn’t happy with returns, so they said to focus on our core business and spin off everything else or they were going to sell/ start putting money elsewhere”.
