In the musical version of The Producer’s there’s a scene where Matthew Broderick’s Leo Bloom asks “when will it be Bloom’s day?” and in an earlier scene there’s a shot of the calendar that shows it actually is June 16th.

For those who have read it, what’s your favorite episode? I can’t decide between “Scylla and Charybdis,” because I’m a Shakespeare nerd, and “Nausicaa,” because I love that split structure where it suddenly shifts from Gerty’s perspective to Bloom’s.

To me, reading Ulysses is like climbing a mountain. It’s hard and not always fun, but the view from the top is spectacular.

I’ve both read and listened to the audiobook of Foucault’s Pendulum, and here’s a tip, try the audiobook.

I’ve read it three times.

I would argue Against the Day is more difficult than Gravity’s Rainbow. It has the advantage of being more obvious in the stylistic motifs, but the disadvantage of refusing to explain what’s going on. PRtMB has weird problems that he broadcasts here instead of talking to a therapist.

Tip for people who want creamy dressings but aren’t into mayo - coconut milk. Replace the mayo with an equal amount of coconut milk, make the dressing as instructed, then let it sit in the fridge a few hours and it will set into something creamy and flavorful.

I knew someone was going to go there and I said it anyway because I don’t believe in regrets.
