I’m unclear what you mean by “being states”. There were 5 versions of a Coluan person named Querl Dox, who uses the title of Brainiac-5. Prime, Female, Silver Agey, Punk and Eye Patch. Each was just an alternate-universe orphan doppelganger of the others.
