The prices aren't unreasonable, but it's a far cry from the stuff-you-have-lying-around-the-house approach.

I'm confused by this quote, a little bit. Did she honestly not expect that this country would have capable, confident, ambitious women despite its patriarchal culture? Holy mother of othering.

Flawless. Hopefully she's pumping iron as we speak.

I think Mr. LaChapelle is out of bounds here. The video is obviously inspired by and references his style of photography, but that's kind of nebulous. Unless she's directly ripping off an actual licensed image in an identifiable way or using his name, this doesn't seem like it would hold water. Everyone riffs off of

HOW IS HE 40

@francofile001: Right? And he's looking up at her while she regards the viewer. I think that's kind of revealing about their relationship especially compared to most contemporary portraiture.

How about Marie Lavoisier?

I'm really sympathetic to Amy Westcott. Just because Rodarte created some of the costumes doesn't mean they're in any way responsible for the costume design of the film or deserve to be credited as such. That warrants a "special thanks to" or "tutus created by", not a shared design credit.

@Jonny_eh: It may not be a fake intended to pass for the original, just a copy or a study that was painted for whatever reason.

One on the right feels Victorian than anything else. Totally a copy.

Fairytale wedding? PSHAW! I got married in my own bedroom with a Snuggie on and then we ate leftover Chinese food, so I'm way more virtuous than anyone who would ever go to Disneyworld for her wedding. Also, this is very relevant to this post.

@keldo: She's also pretty made-up and well-lit. In candid shots, HBC looks like a stunning woman in her forties, which is exactly what she is.

@Adversar: I think you're confusing 'benevolent sexism is bad' with 'benevolence is bad'. Cheer up, Charlie!

@billysan: Yes, even assholes have babies.

Hyenas are assholes, man.

I wasn't sure about Heath Ledger, either, so imma go with 'Trust Nolan" on this one.
