My 1970 Torino was doing good to make 11 mpg.

The gas tax is 18.5 cents a gallon. If corrected for inflation, it would be about 30 cents. If we want to fix bridges and overpasses and highways and add some nice stuff and fund working transit it should be twice that. Even a penny more has Republicans freaking out, even though gas was multiples of that a few years…

23mpg out of a big block? Fat chance. I was able to squeeze out about 16 all highway in a 3rd gen nova.
