…Gamelothists? That's a new one.

Fiddling with GameShark codes for Super Mario 64 was an outstanding way to give the game more life and resulted in some homegrown Chaos Editions. Many of the cheat lists going around online had some creepy non-helpful codes that would corrupt the graphics, audio, and physics, and in the right combinations, they could

Awesome! :)

I was waiting for your edutainment pick!

Oh jeez! That's so exciting to hear. What part?

I'm going deep cut again! This is the second time for this feature I'm going with music I've uploaded to YouTube (and have previously written a thing about), so apologies for the blatant double-dipping.

It's wasn't even that. I just got distracted by something shiny and new and never got back in. Based on the time, it was probably something like RTX Red Rock, and now I'm sad all over again. :(

I'm a big fan of the track that YouTube claims is just called "Sad." I never finished Terranigma despite even importing a copy (it's one of my great regrets!), but this piece has still stuck with me. https://www.youtube.com/wat…

The close-up Mario Cam is a really interesting case because it shows how uncertain the developers were about camera controls. Like Matt says, there's no reason to ever use that camera, and its counterpart, the Fixed Cam, is usually impractical to set up the way you'd want it. So why even bother including them?

Can I be weird and answer the opposite? I finished Annihilation about a month back, and even though I love the idea of exploring its bizarre world further (it reminded me a lot of The Dig in some ways), it would be underserved as a game because of how flooded gaming is with similar premises. The things that make it

In Arizona, two grand will buy you a castle and a pillow case full of meth.

I'm gonna do it! I'm gonna eat this cat!

annarchive is the best!

I missed that discussion about exploring multiple paths in games, but this seems like a good opportunity to bring up Save the Date, which was featured in Sawbuck Gamer on Gameological Level 1: http://gameological.com/201…

Currently solo, but I was persuaded to get it by a friend who had just started, and we've played together. Amazingly, you don't miss out on a ton of the teamwork when you're playing alone because the game does a great job highlighting supportive actions (like if you use an ability that makes a small healing zone, it's

I have to admit when I judged something wrong. Despite the skepticism I had when it first came out, I absolutely love Overwatch. It just radiates positive energy in a way I'm not used to from a multiplayer game, which I assumed I had given up on. It's a game that celebrates doing well together but without the pressure

Yeah, I don't trust my instincts from late middle school/early high school. I remember renting Shinobi and being confused by its rough visuals and difficulty, but that was after months of reading gaming magazines expecting it to be the defining game of the decade or whatever. It has to be different with a little

There was that really weird rash of 80s game reboots around that time, like Rygar and Shinobi. Those fell off the radar pretty quickly, but I'd love to hear someone go back and compare them with a decade of hindsight.

I read this expecting a push-pop made out of Doritos.
