I'd never heard of Croonchy Stars before, and I'm looking at the box right now and giggling like a lunatic.

Argh, I was gonna recommend Construct 2, which is a great 2D engine designed for people without coding experience, but it's only for Windows…
Dissent is interesting too. I know he wasn't a fan of games for some silly/spurious reasons, but it was at least useful to hear his objections to understand them.
My Steam wishlist is a great way to see what I wanted to play six years ago… should probably tidy that up.
"[T]he one thing that I did find going through the games that I viewed
before we started work, is a lot of the games have a cold emotional drive."
Hey now, I went to the long-running Myst fan convention last year… and everyone there also thought the Peter Gabriel thing was really weird.
I'm so torn on whether Eve (assuming that's the same game) is brilliant or overindulgent. It's a miasma of thematic content about love and relationships, which is great, but every puzzle just leads up to an interactive Peter Gabriel remix. It's been a while since I took a crack at it; I need to give it another pass.
Burnout is totally understandable. Get some time and distance, and you'll remember what excites you. :) Nothing wrong with only enjoying the weirdo small stuff.
My goal is to play more slow games that require deeper investment. My favorite games tend to be the slow-burn, atmospheric type, but I've recently done a poor job actually playing them. The biggest sin has been failing to make any meaningful progress Avernum, the outstanding hundreds-of-hours-long RPG series that I…
Now we just need Frost/Elvis to round out the trilogy.
"Dying men in snakeskin suits will rant about what it means to have honor."
Well, I could put the trash into a landfill where it's going to stay for millions of years, or I could burn it up, get a nice smoky smell in here and let that smoke go into the sky where it turns into stars.
There's a number of board games stories and cons around my city, so it's more a mental note for whenever I end up there. :)
If I had a Wii U, Affordable Space Adventures would be at the top of the list to get. As someone who loves Artemis, I'm game for any new experience in a similar vein. And Codenames is also now a higher priority if I come across it!
This will sound odd because it's writing about pop culture, but the thing this year that I wish everyone would read is Drew McWeeny's "State of the Union for Fandom". It's an absolutely rousing assessment of post-Long Tail culture and where we go from here. I keep thinking back to it as a watershed moment of…
Yikes, a quarter-million dollar loss. Like a certain doll, Nicolas Cage got burned.
The fun part of Doctor Who is it's so convoluted that there's no wrong entry point. :) All games are "real" games; they're all part of the same spectrum.
If you're willing to deal with a game that's frequently a little kludgy, check out Red Faction: Guerrilla. Everything can be demolished, so almost all your interactions with the world involve blowing things up or launching cars through them. There's not a lot deeper happening besides some terrific action (each area of…
Because no one else has mentioned it, I also want to sing the praises of #IDARB for different reasons. The sports gameplay is good fun (sadly none of my friends took interest in it, and the game currently doesn't have offline play outside of the ridiculous story mode), but for me, the greatest part is how much you can…
Your continued love of Invisible Inc. keeps nudging me closer to actually trying it…
