I remember the Ring came out about a year or so after Skittles started their weird/absurd ad campaign. I always though that The Ring video was like a dark version of those ads.

I hated the Kid with his Brain exposed ghost. At age 10 I watched it while visiting family, so that night I was sleeping on an unfamiliar couch in an unfamiliar room facing a mirrored wall. I was so afraid that if I looked into the mirror I would see that guy and his brain just standing over the couch behind me.
