I don't agree with you on The Smiths as I think "Back to the Old House" is solid. I agree with you about Doves. "Kingdom of Rust" as a whole was pretty disappointing to me, though I have come a bit around to it now. It's just that "Some Cities" was so good, that it was a bad comparison.
