Not a copy. Its a basic design thats been around since the 50’s. It just isnt a design that has any use outside of whatever the NSA is upto.

The Buran could just detach from the rockets on an engine failure, after powering down the engines. The Shuttle had no such chance, being strapped to solid rocket boosters.

It was planned that the rocket would eventually glide back to earth and land on a runway.

The Shuttle design was compromised from the outset by the military wanting it to be able to land without passing over enemy territory. The Russians fixed that by planning on strapping on 2 jet engines, something the US version couldn't do because of its 3 engines.

If you put your head under a car wheel and let someone drive the car over it then most sensible people would say you deserved it. If you stick multiple knives into an animal and than animal in turn hurts you, then you deserve it.
