I think it would be best to compare petrol vs electric in terms of kg CO2/ mile or similar. Energy mix (% coal, % natural gas, etc) all vary from region to region. Factoring in losses just getting power to homes from the plant, the margins can be slim. But centralizing the problem at the power plant vs the tailpipes…
