I agree, the brake line thing is dangerous and a hack job. But many of his other videos are genuinely helpful. When I am preparing to do some work, I watch his videos, and Eric the car guy’s. I also read the repair manual. Scotty gives some helpful tips and cautions so I might avoid breaking a bolt or something.

I have to say I disagree. Corolla is the king of beaters. These things are rock solid - I can vouch for that. I've had two. Here is a list of the maintenance and repairs I did on them:
