There was a 2.6L and a 2.0 or maybe 2.2L. Not sure which. I'm pretty sure they were all carb'd in 88. And with a 3 or 4 speed auto, definitely not getting anywhere in a hurry. There's an 89 with the smaller 4 cyl auto for sale here - debating whether or not to buy it.

I had a Dakota with the 239 and a similar fuel system...can't recommend it.

Less than 1,000 miles/year. I put 1,000 on mine in three months.

Everyone says change the oil, but if the dipstick reads full and the oil is that see-through yellow, what's the problem? Change it when you've rolled around a month or two, put some miles on it, and the oil isn't as not-dirty.

I notice that basically all manual VWs (and Audis etc) have 6-speeds now with a "dog leg" reverse gear I think it's called? It seems to me that it would be a pain in the butt to find 1st from neutral, like at a stop or
