I once got a ticket outside a state unemployment office. Seems you couldn’t conduct your business inside in the amount of time you could buy at the meters near the place.

It’s nice that Southwest did right by the aisle-seat lady, but Southwest doesn’t always live up to its promise. I was on a flight once where the flight attendant said if there was anything she could do to make the flight more comfortable, just ask. I requested that she make the plane about two-feet wider, and that…
If we must have these obnoxious slide shows, could we please have them laid out so you don’t have to scroll from each picture to the text accompanying the picture?
On Air BnB, bed size is listed, but not searchable or filterable.
I once worked at a business that had a private parking lot. It was immediately adjacent to the railroad station, where parking was a bear. I arrived at work one day to find someone parked in my reserved spot. I had to run into the office, so I took a chance and parked illegally at the curb.
Not parking, but I once had an unruly taxpayer yelling at my boss that said taxpayer “paid his salary.” Boss reached into his pocket, took out a quarter, offered it to the unruly fellow and said, “Here. That ought to more than cover your share.”
When I was a broadcaster (not prominent at all), mutually agreeing to part meant the boss said, “You’re fired,” and you said, “If that’s the way you feel about it, I don’t want to work here anymore.” And at my level, the phrase severance pay never entered the conversation.
some of these things, especially pergolas and gazebos, may have zoning restrictions and/or need a building permit.
I’ve been looking recently, and seen some short-term rentals that list a price, and also list that the price doesn’t include the tax. Those taxes are often quite high because customers of the sites don’t usually vote in the area where they’re renting.
Not so much no dice as don’t want it at any price. A supercharger on a vehicle with this much mileage that hasn’t been well cared for, very iffy to me.
If protection orders worked, everyone would get a protection order against everyone else at birth, and we’d have world peace. If I’m not afraid of being punished for killing someone, why would I be afraid of being cited for contempt when I violate a protection order?
So most countries, in fact, the overwhelming majority of countries.
All things to all people? Please explain how they’re trying to be affordable, or reliable.
Once had the oil changed in my Chrysler T&C every Thursday for three weeks. I was supposed to change it every 3,000 miles, wasn’t I? I was a little disappointed that none of the oil-change places noticed. Moved my son coast-to-coast in three days, stayed for a while and drove home alone, also in three days. No…
I’m no expert, but I do know something about security. You’re right, some of it is theater. I assume that there’s some neither of us know about that isn’t.
According to TSA, they’re considered sports equipment and must be checked. According to an outdoor site I consulted, TSA is concerned that something might be concealed in the hollow tubes. I thought the metal tips potential use as spears would be a concern, but apparently not.

I’d prefer to rely only on carry-on luggage, but I can’t bring a suitcase of carry-on size. I have a bad back. Hiking poles allow me to walk much farther than I can manage to do without them. I mean I can walk farther without them, but the pain is intense. My hiking poles won’t fit in a carry-on suitcase, and the TSA…
I saw Richard and Chuck Berry on the same bill not long before Richard stopped touring. Berry, as he often did, tossed off the show. He claimed, for instance, that he didn’t remember the lyrics to “Promised Land.” Richard needed help to get up on top of the piano, but he still did it, and he tore the house down! You…
