As a huge fan of John Williams, I honestly found TLJ’s score lackluster and a rehash of previous tracks. The mixing was great, but the original score was next to non-existent :(
Blade Runner 2049 had a super-awesome score that managed to pay homage to the original while remaining new and unique in it’s sound.
It surprises me that Blade Runner 2049 was not even nominated for Best Score, but then again, we are talking about the Oscars.
Glad del Toro has finally gotten the Oscars he really deserves (although only by making his most Oscar-bait film yet) and that Jordan Peele didn’t walk away empty-handed, but Get Out should have been the best picture winner, no matter how much I love The Shape of Water.
