It was the 1973 James Forrestal Lecture at the U.S. Naval academy, reprinted in the January 1974 issue of Analog. A lot about being persistent and determined as a writer, to not let rejection get you down.…
I'm not saying it was particularly good advice. I, too, edit the heck out of my manuscripts. And after serving as the guest editor of an anthology, I was shocked at how little work people do to their stories before sending it out.
