A short, so maybe it doesn’t count, but this one made me jump, even after many years of horror film watching. I loved that I could still be made to jump after all this time.

Oooh, yesss! This film made my blood run cold and gave me literal goosebumps, soo scary, and yet not a drop of blood in it. I showed it to my 14 y/o daughter, who was into slasher movies at the time and she thought she was cool with everything and she practically shouted at me how could I let her watch it, afterwards,…
I saw this at the cinema when I was 16. Even then I knew it was bad - plastic cockroaches stapled onto a camouflage net being dragged across the floor!
Creatures of Light and Darkness was the first Zelazny I read. At the tender age of 14, I didn’t realise that it was one massive trip, but it blew my mind anyway. I’ve only read the first of the Amber books, but I’d def give a tv series a go if it was done well.
I thought I’d seen a pic of Elba looking much more grungy, and with light blue lenses in. Cos Roland’s blue eyes are mentioned so often
And Transitions is related too, in a roundabout way. Time to read them all again in order, I think
Penny Dreadful was a better version of LXG. That movie sucked big time
God, that episode gave me nightmares when I first saw it! But the tree ornament doesn’t look too scary :)
Funny, I thought of Saving Private Ryan as well, after watching this episode. The ugly, painful messiness of a real battle
Maybe I’m just too old and seen too many horror movies, but I find it annoying when a film relies on a sudden burst of music to make you jump rather than a genuinely unexpected surprise. You can see the ‘surprise’ coming in most movies nowadays, it’s almost like a musical rhythm and the beat tells you the jump will be…
Babylon 1, 2 and 3. Just saying. If no.4 disappears...
I never liked that. All the boys used their ‘gifts’ as a way to help the group get through the terror and danger, Beverly’s gift was to lie on her back and open her legs? WTF King, couldn’t you come up with a better way for a girl to help?
Doesn’t China have an excess water problem, i.e. their rivers flood uncontrollably unless they’re managed?
Rotoscoping evolved into mo-cap. Don’t see the big deal. The eye knows when it’s watching real human action and made up out of someone’s head action
Well said. Totally agree. People have a right to their vote and their opinion, but when that opinion is based on people with vested interests’ lies, then its a pretty dumb opinion, don’t you think? (and yes, I’m in the UK)
the point was, he wouldn’t have listened to her even if she had told him, cos he didn’t listen to what she said about Ramsey. He was all, ‘I know battles, you don’t). And then he lets Ramsey goad him like a noob. Just as well she didn’t tell him. She’s learnt to play the Game
And the film ending was better than the book, I think even King has admitted this. The book ending was extremely weak, and I’m a King fan
Yeah, this was the first thing that occurred to me, how fucking fast are those ships, that they can sail all the way south, round Dorne, across the Narrow Sea, to Mereen, in a few days, by the looks.
16k of memory, bwahahahaha!
Maybe this is what I saw 43 years ago on a beach in Devon, the shell of one of these things, somehow washed up and caught behind a sea wall. I thought it was an actual dead animal. As I was about 7, it freaked the hell out of me.
