I've always used 7zip's .7z extension, gmail doesn't attempt to scan inside the archives and I have 7zip installed on all the computers I might potentially use as well as a portableapps version of 7zip and a copy of the actual installer on my USB drive :P

I've tried to switch to ubuntu, but getting my dual monitor/dual audio setup to work wasn't happening... next time I'll try fedora and see if it goes any smoother. I do still use knoppix live for some computer repairs though.

If we used Miranda instead, wouldn't we still need to go through 3rd party servers? Or does Miranda offer a transport service themselves?
