I love this truck and I do love Jalopnik, I’ve been a follower since 2008.  But for the love of god, can you guys just write automotive articles without predicating them on heated and politically debated topics.  Just providing a hyperlink doesn’t add to any credibility and it takes away from the actual content at

It’s Capitalism, the American way, are you some kind of communist or something? LOL

Amazon has amazing customer service. Small businesses should take notes.

“I bought a Volkswagen Tiguan.. for my wife.” You are without question the worst husband in the history of human mating.

Mmmm I think “Peak Oil” means peak of production, not of demand? At least by King Hubbert’s definition?

I agree. I’m SO SICK of these grand “unveiling” events which just show digital mockups, but no actual progress toward that product. It’s a blatant investment money grab in all cases. Do 5% of these announcements ever get to a prototype stage?

Sounds like an injector is leaking. Rising dipstick is no bueno.

David, I love you - but “David Tracy did it” is more of a warning than an endorsement at this point.

hmm, good point. So maybe he fails once and sees that he has to pump another $3k into a shitbox van to make it pass. Will be interesting to see.

I like state inspections and am happy to live in a state which requires them. If nothing else, it tend to keep the worst rattle traps off the road.

These states do have a general speed limit, though. I do think a good part of TüV requirements are a overzealous, but I enjoy knowing that the guy coming up behind me at 180mph probably does have working brakes.

I mean, compared to what he normally buys, this is a Maybach.

....yeah. Often struggling to get his cars into decent shape in zero-inspection Michigan. My pessimistic guess is that the TUV is going to fail him repeatedly until he gives up, making for a very sad instragram thread. Or whatever social media the kids will be using by then.

I don’t know how the TüV works but inspection laws here in Portugal were introduced because of a EU directive and we tend to adapt laws from countries already following those directives, especially german laws. In portuguese inspections, which are very thorough, you have some faults that will allow the car to pass up

I’m beginning to think that you got the wrong end of this deal.

California doesn’t need his help to demonize themselves.

Why does reading a David Tracy article make me feel like I am enabling an addict who needs treatment?

Be careful what you wish for lest we all be saddled with 45hp highly monitored transportation pods.

Statistics. 60% of the time they work every time.

While I must concede that there is not enough market for a 2-door Tahoe to make a business case, I will vehemently disagree that the only people who would want one are off-roaders.  I think the GMT400 2-door proves both our points.  The sales numbers weren’t there to justify its continued existence, but >99% of them
