I would absolutely worry about an EV being charged in my garage. Doubly so for a basement garage, which can send the whole house up in flames really quickly.

I’m guessing 99.9% of McParland’s inquiries is finding Nissan Rogues or similar so it just maybe be made up for more theatrical effect.

Or maybe he was just a guy who wanted to read ‘What Car Should You Buy’ article without a bullshit Japanese Kei car answer.

no, there is still plenty of room for those compartments but they were ditched because they were prone to rust and it saves money not having them. There is TONS of room behind bedsides of my sierra

I wouldn’t touch a new one with a 10' pole unless it was to smash the front end until it no longer resembled the fucking CRV, though.

The Ram still does that better because you don’t need to unload the bed to get at your beer.

The Ridgeline doesn’t compare at all. You might as well have compared the RAM to a Goldwing. The RAM 1500 Limited is a luxury vehicle in every sense of the word and a truck that can tow twice it’s own weight. Neither of those things can you get in a Ridgeline. I’ve test driven the Ridgeline and found it to be a

Try towing a cuddy cabin boat (day cruiser) or a four place snowmobile trailer with a Ridgeline

I would struggle to name a single thing a Ridgeline does better than this, other than be cheaper.

Depends on the family and where you like to camp, but yeah, the Ridgeline could make a great family car. But the interior is horrible and cheap and it doesn’t get good enough mileage for being so small. I thought for sure that was going to be my next purchase until I sat in one.

My bad - it was a complete thought in my head, but now I see it doesn’t look right.

There are aspects of Jalopnik I find really appealing, and aspects I find almost antithetical to my way of life. These “let’s spend a ton of money restoring this shitbox to decent condition, at which it’ll be slightly less shitty, but still an uncomfortable vehicle from a bygone era of automotive manufacturing that

She needs it to be reliable, I don’t think she wants to travel with a toolbox.

David,

You’re not a bad guy, but let’s tell some truths here.

YOU are the LAST person to be questioning someone else’s questionable build/reasoning.

That 3.6L V6 is so “agricultural” in how it feels in a CT6, it should be in a Massey-Feruson tractor, not Cadillac’s flagship sedan.

“unfortunate setback for labor in the US”. They all still have good paying jobs with benefits. I would imagine if they Unionized and VW closed the plant or reduced the shifts, it would probably be worse for labor in America.

Cargo shorts? :)

You’re not wrong, but if I want to go anywhere that requires a lot of driving then it becomes an issue. Also, aren’t house chargers expensive to install for the ones that don’t suck?

It’s not the number of chargers, it’s being able to charge while not at home in an amount of time that makes it convenient. 30 minutes is still far too long when it takes me <5 to fill up my gasoline cars.
