Trump is correct. If fuel standards were lower a manufacturer could say add 200 pounds into a stronger chassis. Pretty simple logic.

Good. NYC is completely offside constitutionally on this. Let’s hope it gets to the SCOTUS where the rule of law is still respected.
Exactly this. The he jalopnik fanbois can’t admit it though.
I drive a lot of work miles (35,000/yr) - mostly on wide open highways. What I do is lease for 36 or 48 at the lowest mileage and interest rate possible and then buy it out via a loan for another three. On a NPV basis its the cheapest way to go
As a Canadian I would say “compared to what?”
This absolutely is a “compromise motorcycle”. Not even enough range for a days worth of driving.
Add in labour and you are north of $20000 -a car with a 250000 mile drivetrain.
And for two months in a row EVs ales are DOWN. take away the subsidies and even fewer people want them.

The government doesn’t subsidize anything- taxpayers do. Why don’t you ask them if they are okay with paying for it?
Rail-based streetcars are the worst as they obstruct the road at all times. Cities like Toronto have real issues with this.
Let’s see how that works in a winter storm. Bicycles are not a solution but an extremely hazardous way of getting around in very fair weather conditions.
We have hit peak mass transit. With autonomous cars likely within the next 10-15 years mass transit except in the most dense population areas (elevators, escalators, subways shuttle buses) they are expensive and inefficient by comparison.
