Isn’t it more likely for an upstream HVAC supplier to have the equipment and knowledge to build ventilators? I suppose the Big Three could help with assembly logistics, but I doubt they have the kind of flexibility to make ventilators from scratch.

The greater mass located further from the rotational center is the real difference-maker, and isn’t really addressed in the article apart from the suspension loads. The author thinks it's due to aero, which is relatively minor.

A coworker of mine bought an A4 Avant and got the extended warranty. Thing needed $8k in repairs due to the oil consumption issue (recalled in other MYs, not his). That said, his warranty company was shady as shit and denied his claim.
