If people bought Miatas as frequently as they did Corollas, they would cost $20k. Back in reality, a low-volume car with any kind of research and development cost (see: Miata suspension) is going to cost more than econoboxes built to a price. Hell, Mazda doesn’t even price their relatively mass-market Mazda3 to the

I appreciate the nuanced argument. Of course I don’t expect AV tech to be perfect, but I do expect it to be better than me 100% of the time. If a human driver serves without warning from point blank range, it’s understandable that the AV couldn’t avoid a collision. However, if AVs are barreling full speed into highway

Safety-critical software should really be its own world. The features aren't complete until they work safely 100% of the time, and normal Autopilot still struggles with stationary objects.

Not an SUV, but it's easy to just assume everything new is one these days.

The low prices indicate that far too many people buy them new and too few buy them used.

It's got to be the way the bra drapes over the front. GOT TO BE

As an Asian American, policing “ricer” seems like excessive political correctness. While it's used as a pejorative, it's due to choices and not skin color.

I can forgive the IHOP love (don’t hate if you haven’t been to a 24/7 location after a night of drinking), but Chef Boyardee? WTF? I didn’t even know pizza came in a can.

Appreciate the insight, but while I might be stretching my “mid-20s” statement, this clean title/Carfax car is available for $27k.

There’s a huge discrepancy between automatic and manual SS values. You can get an auto SS with fewer miles in the mid-20s. Manuals run almost $10k more.

Are air conditioning and radios considered lux now?

Gotcha, agreed. I'd love a 3.0T flat-6.

Makes sense. I was thinking the Spyder would just changeover to the 4.0 engine.

Porsche publicly admitted that cutting 2 cylinders was a mistake. They’re not going to do that and keep selling mostly flat-4s. I think the S will get 6 cylinders in the next gen.

Missed opportunity to just name them the Cayman R and Boxster Spyder. Good news, though. Hopefully it's an incremental change back to all flat-6s eventually.

The differences in range from manufacturer claims are interesting. The Kia was within 10%, but the Mercedes and Jag lost a quarter from claimed range.

A constitutional amendment (which is what it would take to institute Congressional term limits) is pretty unlikely. There’s been one ratified amendment in 40 years, and the political landscape is extremely unproductive now.

Also insurance rates. It used to be expensive to insure a teen, but now it's just insanity.

This makes a lot of sense. My sis and I are 88 and 85 respectively, and my brothers are 94, and there is a clear generational divide, even more than with people born in the late-’70s.

Sorry to say, but Gen Xers won’t have the power to fuck shit up worse than the Boomers have. As you say, Boomers have held on to things so long that things will transfer directly to Millenials. Fortunately, older Millenials are pretty awesome.
