Why?

Well what’s interesting is it’s not really Japanese people that care about whitewashing, it’s Asian people(and some non-Asian) in this country.

I think a new adaption of Akira is due, simply because the (well done) movie was done before the manga was completed, so it worth doing again to cover the territory that wasn’t covered initially.

I just want to kiss you on the cheek for not responding like an angry jackass. You put thought into what you wrote, and while we may agree and disagree on some things, you can at least speak like an adult.

Number one? Hardly. Their movie bombed. They both have a number of bombs to their names and they are far from the highest paid actors. And keep in mind they are more of an exception than a rule.

Keep in mind I already pointed out that the diversity issue stems more from Hollywood’s ideas of bankable actors over

The concept of people being outraged over something you aren’t outraged over about outrages you?

Switch to decaf.

Anyway, this isn’t an all or nothing issue, to me at least. There is a discussion that could be had here. It is possible to be open minded about the points of views of others without lashing out at people.

I

Indeed, the reality of the Hollywood system precludes doing something like making Akira with an Japanese or Asian cast.

We all know Hollywood works under the idea that it needs a big recognizable star to put in big budget films, and right now with a few exceptions the majority of bankable stars in Hollywood are white.

No I don’t. It’s situational really.

Most of the great american films of the last 100 years have been re-worked or remade Asian films. Star Wars, The Magnificient 7, and Reservoir Dogs are all either remakes or re-imaginings. I have no issue with them.

You’re a curious person. You seem very hostile and petulant, and

Can’t really tell if this will be good just based on images. I’ll have to wait to see if it’s MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE.

I’ll be here all week, folks.

Man, that movie could have been so awesome. The whitewashing wouldn’t have been that bad. Okay it would have been bad, but most of us would have cut the movie a little slack if it was at least...fun?

It may make a difference to you if one is based on a real event and one isn’t, but please try to understand my point.

The themes and ideas in Akira are tied to Japanese history and culture. It is metaphorical reflection on the Hiroshima and Nagasaki attacks and the effect on Japanese society.

Every symbolic element of

Back during the outrage about Ghost in the Shell, a lot of people tried hard to excuse the whitewashing. If anyone remembers, the excuse was along the lines of, well, stylized anime characters don’t look specifically asian, so they’re white.

I wonder what excuses will be made if Akira get’s whitewashed? Akira isn’t

Probably not.

Yet. The key word is yet.

Michael Bay used cast Megan Fox as some sexy club dancer when she was 15. 14 is 1 year off of his lowest low that I know of.

I’ve always assumed the hammer has some sort of intelligence and telepathic ability. The hammer can telepathically detect the intent to use the hammer and lock itself in place. With no detected intent, the hammer acts just like any inanimate object.

That’s why all the people who tried to move it couldn’t in the first

I couldn’t get into Kill La Kill, but like another poster said, it’s just a taste thing.

It is worth noting that Little Witch Academia is quite different from Kill La Kill. It’s a kid’s show, so it’s not super serious, but’s it’s not as over the top zany as Kill La Kill.

For me LWA has a lot going for it. It’s basically

Anyway, if you get interested in a serious discussion, I’ll add something to my initial point.

For the most part, people only are concerned about injustices that are convenient. It’s easy to express concern over, say Boko Haram kidnapping children, because acknowledging that takes nothing away from us.

It’s much harder

Speaking of douchebag moves, please tell me how you can tell if someone intentionally misunderstands someone?

I mean please, if I misunderstood you, please clarify, but to falsely attribute motives to me is a fairly dishonest move. Wouldn’t you agree?

We all make mistakes, so I’ll give you a chance to correct that one.

Nah, while feel bad about it at all? It’s only foreigners and children who get oppressed, right? Fuck em’.
