She had a late fight force buff. So, because the force. The film went out of its way to show that Rey’s powers were growing rapidly.

Plus she was pretty bad ass without the force, and Ren had trouble against Finn, who, if you remember, got smoked in melee against a regular Stormtooper.

I don’t think Ren was that great a

You make a great point. What was acceptable for Anakin and Luke seems to be considered impossible for Rey. People’s double standards are showing.

Wow, armor that explodes when hit that generates enough force to knock the wearer back several yards? Does Michael Bay make Armor for the first Order?

That would seem to magnify the effect of the shot, giving First Order Armor the new award for most impractical armor ever.

Maybe. He wants to be Darth Vader, but let’s not forget that Vader’s injuries limited him. Ren wants power, and would not do something to limit his growth in power. Ren is probably strong enough to use force lighting, and we know Vader couldn’t because of his Cyborg hands, so he could have fake hands.

I missed it, but

One thing I thought of tonight. Until proven otherwise, there is the potential that Rey is stronger in the force, potentially, than anyone ever, even Kylo Ren.

So Anakin Skywalker had the potential to become the strongest force user ever, but it still took him over a decade of training to be close to the strongest of

Forgot to add earlier:

The Nascent Jedi in question is potentially one of the strongest force users in history, possibly stronger in the force than Kylo Ren.

You are very right on the money there.

I’m with you on that. The force basically increases the user’s hand eye coordination, but it does no teach them skills such as how to swordfight or fly a spaceship. Okay, MAYBE they can have some clairvoyance that would help them do something technical, but they still need to learn technical skills like a regular

I pointed that out in another thread. Considering how the bowcaster knocked back stormtroopers, it was amazing Ren could even walk.

For all intents and purposes, Ren would have been incapacitated if he was a normal person.

I feel like all the people complaining about the fight didn’t really pay attention to the details.

Three times so far.

Once because it’s Star Wars. Twice to make sure that I wasn’t wrong that it was a good Star Wars movie. Third time to take my Dad and Mom, because the first movie they took me to was Star Wars, so it was only fitting to take them to see the new one.

One time I believed everything was black and white. Good people do good things and bad people do bad things, and the world is cleanly divided between the right people and the wrong people. For me this extended from and individual level to a national level. To be a good person, all I had to do was make sure I was on

I found a lot of things predictable, but in an enjoyable predictable way.

On thing I didn’t see coming was how badly Rey fucked up Kylo Ren. She wrecked his shit hard. I was expecting them to build him up like Vader, but instead he get beaten badly in his second onscreen lightsaber fight.

Was anyone else not expecting

I’m going with trained fighter who is highly motivated. Plus Kyo Ren was pretty injured before the fight started.

The Stormtroopers are shown using melee weapons in this, so no, they don’t use only blasters.

I agree with some of what you say, but not everything.

The freighter scene served a great dual purpose. Instead of getting some boring explanation, we get to see that Han Solo is back to his old scoundrel ways and getting in trouble like he used to. Plus it helps connect Han Solo to the Rey and Finn. So it basically

Keep in mind he was injured by Chewbacca’s bowcaster. The film went out of its way to show just how strong the Bowcaster is. One shot was kncking stormtroopers back several feet.

Ren was probably walking around with an injury that would be mortal for someone without supernatural abilities. In the very least he should

I can see Kojima inserting himself as Hal, definitely.

There are almost no lens flares, and the shaky cam is non-existent in this film. Abrams shoots this with clear wide angles in medium to long range shots. The action scenes are beautiful and some of the best in the series.

Trying to keep it spoiler free as much as possible.

1. The music is Great but not legendary. There’s nothing new that rivals Duel of the Fates or The Imperial March. Most of the big moments are accompanied by music culled from earlier films. There was one Musial cue towards the end that made the entire audience go dead

He was alternating between shooting down Tie Fighters and shooting individual Stormtroopers on the ground, right? Going to see the movie again tonight. I am pretty sure he was picking off individual troopers on the ground while dogfighting.
