I am hostile toward the idea that a forum's owner can't allow or disallow whatever they like for whatever reasons they like. Maybe if the internet weren't packed full of assholes and trolls looking to make every public conversation into /b/ I'd feel differently, but it is.

Yeah, you're doing a great job of convincing me that deleting your comments would be a great loss to the world.

Indeed. And many of us have decided that allowing every discussion to be utterly dominated by trolls shapes society in a poor way. Believe it or not, a lot of people don't think that it's a problem that all discussions aren't simply bigots screaming slurs.

First of all, Disqus doesn't remove anything. Moderation is done by the hosting site.

I neither know nor care. The mods thought it warranted removal, and since theirs is the only pertinent opinion about what is allowed on their forums, it's pretty much impossible that they were wrong.

If you can't imagine why anybody would ever want to remove annoying people from a conversation, you're probably an annoying person. Seriously, this is a "If you have to ask you'll never know" deal.

I do realize that. You're still increasing the comment count, causing the article in question to be pushed up in perceived popularity, increasing it's likelihood to be pushed by the aggregators and link-sharers. Not to mention encouraging return visits from other people, many of whom will be using the site.

The people who own the forum have every right to allow or disallow anything they want. The idea that people should not have the right to control their own property is the unavoidable implication of the idea that forums should never delete anything.

It's kind of like Ask Jeeves.

No, AV Club showed you. You're the one still providing page views to their supposed click-bait. I mean you're literally telling us you blundered into an obvious trap, and upon discovering it was a trap just continued hanging around and triggering it again and again.

In the same way the email spam filters reek a bit of Big Brother. And the fact that I don't allow Klan rallies to be held in my living room reeks a bit of Big Brother. And failing to spend my time listening to every crank shrieking about government mind control I encounter on the street. Yes, so much censorship

How many times do you need to be told that it's the initial offers being compared here? I would normally expect the once in the article to be enough but sometimes my optimism gets the better of me.

So that's a no on using Google then?

To be fair, some parts of Californication were hilarious and great and memorable.

Nothing of value was lost.

If this is clickbait, then it worked on you, sucker.

If you like JRPGs and have a 360, I highly recommend Lost Odyssey. It's the closest thing to the glory days of Final Fantasy I've played in the last decade, and it's a 360 exclusive. (It's a heck of a lot better than Infinite Undiscovery or Blue Dragon, IMO.)

The DEFINITION of fascism invokes state ownership of all property.

Since when do capitalists hate fascism? Fascism tends to be great for capitalists as long as the particular capitalist isn't a part of a demonized group.

Hatred of women.
