Plus if you think Baumbach is going to turn out a script that’s anything like Barbie: Dolphin Magic (I’ll take the author’s word for it that this exists) then this film is going to be quite a surprising viewing experience .

I kind of expect this generation’s version of Josie and the Pussycats. Not in the tone or humor or energy of Josie, which was all very 2001, but still using what could have been a cheap cash-in to make a smart and self-aware satire.

Agreed 100%. Her attention to detail and handling of emotional complexities is almost shocking at times. I don’t think she would have taken on this project if she didn’t have faith in what she can do with it. I’m looking forward to it, like I will to all of her projects in the future.

Yet another straight actor playing a gay icon.

I’d say The Rock is probably Michael Bay’s best movie he has ever made.

But she’s a good actor in her own right. I mean, of course she is, Hawke auditioned hundreds of potential candidates to be his daughter

Yeah, lots of people love the Beatles. A whole lot. It’s not that crazy.

They’re just so f***ing unfunny, there’s no creativity, it’s rarely ever clever, it’s always some kind of HYUCK HYUCK I THINK I MADE A LIB CRY, I’M FUNNY RIGHT?

Conservatives have a broken sense of humor.

You know, I didn’t dislike Melinda and Melinda so much as I can’t really recall a thing about it, aside from the premise. I wasn’t actively repelled by it like I was by Hollywood Ending (which, bizarrely, got better critical notices.)

But he is bad because he did a bad thing. So everything he has made or ever will make now is bad. And only bad people like bad things. And do you know what is the worst? Boomers. They bad. Woody Allen bad. I alone rise above the bad.

breaking up a family so you can date your ex’s adopted daughter is very creepy and unfathomably selfish. There’s more than enough in the simple, established facts to condemn Allen’s behavior. Yet a lot of people add additional, usually incorrect, details to make it somehow “worse.” Seems like a waste of time?”

Reminds me of that interview Norm did on Conan, where he went all-in criticizing Oscar Pistorius, but not for the murder, no problem with the murder, but because he was cheating at racing, with the Wile E Coyote contraptions he used to run, or “rocket ships,” reasoning that, really, one of the only requirements to be

Match Point isn't about that and is - from what I remember - a pretty good film. Good cast - though that's what you'd expect.

Yeah, it’s not as easy to define as people often believe. Like I said in another post, what Allen did was repugnant. Nobody in their right mind would do it. But he didn’t raise this girl in his home, behave as her dad, then get a divorce and marry her later. The shorthand people use for it is just incorrect.

Sure, if the charge is that he’s a creep with bad judgment I’m not going to defend the guy. But that’s a whole different league from predatory pedophile.

The allegation in your comment is a bizarre delusion that doesn’t even align with the allegations that were actually made.

‘roland polland’ is even lazier than ‘gatsby welles’. this sounds like kevin smith made a woody allen movie.

Clearly this is no SHADOWS & FOG.
