You are so wrong about this. Cars from that era had split dashboards, crumbling door gaskets, leaking main seals, and easy-burst radiator hoses. It was common to replace shocks and spark plug wires at 30k miles. Bodies were more rust-prone and the engine would have burned valves and scored cylinder walls.

I’m with you, what good is a 4 foot bed? The back of an SUV or minivan has that much room. I guess if you regularly carry upright refrigerators around, then the shorty bed is useful.
