This was gonna be my answer so in stead of making a new post, I’ll join yours in saying that “lineair, maybe semi-open blockbuster games” are my comfort games. I’ve actually mentioned in the past how those type of games (Uncharted, Tomb Raider) are my comfort food games.
It looks good, is mostly feel good and the

And while Conan pronounced that decision “truly shameful,”

Now playing

Nioh 2 has been a wild ride. After a mid-game of lackluster bosses, the game has thrown a few at me that took a few tries. The most challenging so far was Shibata Katsuie. I defeated him with an inch of my health left and in pretty spectacular fashion (straight up slapping him in the face). Even made a video to

Have you played Star Wars Fallen Order? I found that the combat as a Souls Light was pretty satisfying but the real star is the exploration. It’s a lot of fun and a perfectly cromulent comfort game.

It helps a ton. Thanks. I think I’ll give it a skip then until I can pick it up later at a discount maybe.
Great review too and that Animal Crossing x Persona clip is great. Gave me a much needed smile. Have a good weekend!

Still going through Nioh 2 at a leisurely pace. I’ve just passed the midway point in story missions. And to my surprise, I even experienced a touching moment. The story and characters are non-existant so that one scene was a nice surprise (Oda Nobunaga of course). I do love the faux-history in Nioh 2. That one battle

I only ever played FF7 till I got lost in some mountains and the random encounters killed my joy and patience. I don’t have the same love for the game so I wasn’t planning on buying it. Its combat looked somewhat fun but very on the rails or limited. Is the combat system a selling point or not for you? Because the

I’ve seen others like John Oliver mention this too and I’m baffled.
I’ve been living in self-isolation for 3 weeks now and of course, watch a bit of movies and tv now. I don’t think about it at all or hear anyone mention this unease at all. Could this be an American media thing where every relevant thing needs to be

Continuing Nioh 2. Taking my time with it. Just entered the second region. After a couple of difficult Yokai-bosses, the first human boss weirdly enough was very easy. Did co-op too and had 2 lovely people going with me through the level where they would point out the loot chests and everything.

Sempai would never!

Wolfenstein: The New Order is one of my favourite shooters. It balances the over-the-top story so well with the actual heartfelt emotions of the characters. And it’s fun too.

Every time some bit of “Wow the Doom Slayer is such a tough badass and demons are scared of him” hyperbole popped up, it just functioned as your own personal hype machine

I like slice of life anime better. David-sempai would agree.

Made some modest progress in Nioh 2. Just like in the first game, the game gradually adds more and more mechanics some of which are a lot of fun (soul cores). All the smithing, merging, tempering, ... is still alien to me so I’ll leave that be.
Last weekend I beat Enenra, the second boss, and just yesterday I beat

it’s even harder to pin down where any of Simon’s recent shows fit, genre-wise.

I played a bit of Shadow of the Colossus this week, the first tutorial boss and after I felled it, I did not want to continue. The game really shoves the “you’re murdering some innocent beast” in your face with the whole “stab it a thousand times”. Felt bad man. Of course I will continue because it’s a game and we’re

Thanks for the recommendation.

Thank you, William. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I finished Nioh 1 a while ago and got excited about the sequel. It looks great but in all the reviews I read so far, the loot system is only mentioned in passing.

Cool cosplay. Pretty much nailed it.

It’s been more of Greedfall this week. A mixed bag of stuff.
Love the setting and design, hate the weird colonial stuff. (see an inquisitor strangle a native islander while your party has a native in there? Ignore the murder and carry on? sure thing!)
The weapon and armour design is great although it could be more
