That scene was indeed gut-wrenching, mostly through the sheer emotion Burch manages to convey. Such a tortured performance, I felt queasy as well, and immensely sad for Chloe.
When I wrote how “maddening” she could be, that scene in the diner was the one I thought of as well. But it makes her all the more relatable

SPOILERS

This week I played through Life Is Strange. Coming off of some smaller games, I wanted something substantial but not too open-world-like. Reading Wolfman Jew’s post on it, like often here, it made me want to play it and for once, I had the game in question ready to go. I finished the game just last night so it’s still

Haha, that Kerouac-bit made me eye-roll as well. Max seemed way too prudish to appreciate Kerouac’s fucking around. Standard hipster-response. Most of her popculture drops and references seemed sincere though.

Heat Signature sounds wild. I need to check it out.

And I bought the Orange box one time too but so far have only played the two Portals. I really need to play HL2. When I told my friend, who games sometimes, I’d never played it, he lost it. It’s his nr1 game apparently, together with Deus Ex.

As all things, I think balance is key. At times, when I’m down, games can be a welcome crutch for a while, similar to books and music. But veer too much towards one end and it becomes unhealthy. I completely agree with you diverse interests-bit. Variety is the spice of life and a healthy curiosity needs to be

Sorry for the brief response before, was still at work.
The experience of randomly meeting a Nintendo-designer was pretty cool. Even better, cool dude, amazing pool player. He calculated a triple band shit and it went in, what the hell.

Haha, yeah, we talked a bit about the Nintendo-stuff itself but when he said the Japanese equivalent of “I’m not at liberty to discuss that” twice, I got the hint and moved on. He did tell me one absolutely hilarious thing about the culture there, in this case how musicians and creatives get a lot more freedom. So

I live near Osaka so the guy commutes every day to Kyoto and back.

The good thing is nothing needs to change to keep our nice little community going.

This week I actually played through a few games. Even tidied up my time with Horizon Zero Dawn by spending 30 minutes fast-travelling across the map for those dumb metal flowers and training dummies, thus earning my platinum trophy. So meaningless but it hits those braincells just right.

I do but it’s in my cupboard, 9000 km away.

Okami is one of those PS2 games I have fond memories of and I can still recollect certain scenes and places. But I never actually finished it, I think I played until the second part of the game before I trailed off. Your write-ups have made me want to revisit that game but I really can’t afford to buy anything new

Goddamnit, Wolfman, you’re making me tear up here. Really nice ode to Gameological and Matt. I wish I could upvote this a hundred times.

First, thank you for all the amazing writing, Matt. This place is one of the most insightful and pleasant/positive places I come to online and you will be missed. Without your support, we would never have been here.
Secondly, I hope your funemployment is brief and the transition into a new, hopefully great job is

I fell in love with Armaggedon, went back to Worms 2 even but it lacked that cozy art style. World Party was indeed the peak, so much options, just a bigger and better version that was actually better.

That’s my favourite grappling hook as well. And the deathmatch “singleplayer” in that game was perfect. Giving you better ranks as you progress to more difficult levels with more of them, less of you.

I’m glad they fixed the shotgun just for the fact that it makes my friends stop blaming it every time they die. The fixed pattern and visible hits are a great touch and something my friend literally suggested as well.
The SMG is now incredibly powerful but it requires more aim. There will always be preferred weapons

Thank you! For the warm welcome and recommendations.
1979 Revolution does sound intriguing, I’ve heard good things about it here.

An embarrassing amount of games really. From sales and PS Plus, they’ve been stacking up for the past year.
Take away the open world games like Shadow of Mordor and Just Cause, I have Pyre, Prey, Psychonauts, The Last Guardian, Life is Strange, Firewatch, ...I’m inclined towards Pyre, seeing the other posts here.
