The EV conversions actually look like a great idea to me. But if it was me choosing a vehicle to convert, I’d pick a malaise-era land yacht like this:

While I’m not familiar with the off-roading scene in Moab, if it is anything like where I grew up it can be summarized thusly:

For me and my needs the best was a VW Alltrack. Its an AWD wagon that can be had with a manual or a great DSG auto. Its got lots of cargo space but its a relatively lightweight wagon at about 3500lbs. It has a lot of modifications that can be made if you so desire. I’d have to agree. Granted my ‘68 only has 30k miles, but I start her up twice a year and she fires up like a swiss watch every time
