The line between creativity and wild-ass crazy may be thin, but this little bugger straddles it — when it isn’t tap-dancing on it.

Pretty sure I would’ve chased the motherfuckers down like

Neutral: Hell, you don’t have to even talk to anyone here to get booze and weather news. Just go to the local corner gas stations. There’s a gang of old-farts that have been there since before the store was built to sell kerosene that are deaf of posts that talk about the weather if they aren’t talking college

I also think that the positive sales numbers have a lot to do with some people having money sitting around that they would otherwise be spending on travel. Once they feel safer about travelling, those sales will not only dry up, but some of the bikes purchased will wind up on the used market, further depressing new

Had the same thought - a flywheel for one of my BMWs is $900+ and it’s pretty much a mandatory replacement item when you do the clutch.

“These parts weren’t cheap. The clutch kit was $125 and the new flywheel was about $90.”

Unfortunately, that would be playing into protesters’ hands.

Who cares? This will just be another slideshow filled with suggestions that got the least amount of support and make no sense.

I believe I have just read the perfect sentence.

So I guess you are the one that decides none of the blue collar workers / trades people making boats, expensive cars, planes should have jobs anymore because you think no one should be able to afford these things? Nice of you. Would love to hear your economic plan.

Watch out - this kind of comment gets you all sorts of shit on, in a Bezos thread.*

I mean you can make fun of the guy for having a “toy” like this but you know what? This project has employed hundreds of people in the hard hit marine sector and will continue to employee lots of people for the substantial on-going maintenance that will be required. Captains, engineers, all the other crew, the ports

The list is a hell of a lot shorter if you only count the car shows that are worth anything.

COVID-related supply chain shortages are leading to some interesting body shop repairs.

Current 747s have about 5,000 sq ft of interior space; this early model is likely closer to 4,000 sq ft. That’s enormous for an aircraft, but for an event space, it’s a little cozy. You’re not exactly competing with banquet halls with a venue of that size. Maybe if they also included an outdoor area under the wings,

Having recently rented a wedding venue, I can say that $1300 / hr is pretty well in line with a nicely appointed rustic barn or a decent urban event space. Catering and bar costs stack on top of that.

My hunch is that $16k isn’t crazily out of line for a wedding and reception venue of that size (though I’d hope it included catering and an open bar). If that’s the atmosphere and aesthetic that some people want, it probably has little competition and might find a market.

So they are just turning this into a non-mobile event space?

Even though I could never afford it (obviously) I think this is ridiculously awesome. I feel like Jalopnik currently has the biggest disconnect in terms of how writers see their takes being received, and what their actual reading audience is. Most of us like to see cool stuff, especially if it was repurposed like this.

This is most likely intended to be a “support yacht”. Some billionaires don’t want all their toys and gear cluttering up their fancy main yacht, so they commission a second vessel as essentially a floating garage to follow the main yacht around.
