Agreed. It’s absolutely gorgeous
It’s stunning.
Man, you really fucking hate letting people spend their money on things that make them happy, huh?
I was neighbors with Dale (the Commander, ha) for several years back in the day. He’s a pretty intense dude. His training for his students/employees is super rigorous. He’d have them out there doing push-ups and jumping jacks on flooded streets during wicked thunderstorms, among all other sorts of wacky shit . It was…
I used to say “when your monthly repairs average get close to a monthly car payment, It’s time to dump the car”. That was when you could trade in towards a new Altima and end up paying $300 a month for 36 months. Now that I’ve had my current car for almost seven years and I absolutely love the thing, and its analog no…
My own gauge as to when it’s time to move on from a car is when I feel...annoyed...by having to pay for basic maintenance. That means I’ve fallen out of love with it. When I first got my Miata, I actually loved taking it in for service, talking with the service writers and mechanics about the car, looking at the…
Having been in these tire/snow debates for many MANY years, I’ve come to the conclusion that people don’t understand that there are different kinds of snow. Would I try and get away with my AT3W’s in Maine in the winter? No. Do they work great in Utah? Yes.
Actually, if you’re in a situation where true winter tires (Blizzaks or Nokians or such) aren’t practical for you (say you live in a place where winter temps are often around 50F or higher, or you road trip to warmer places during the winter), the “all weather” snowflake tires are not a bad option. I’ve got mild…
Not to mention most off-road tires are made of harder compounds to deal with rocks and debris. In the winter, you might as well wrap your tires in PVC pipe like a drift scooter. And the big open tread does fuck-all for winter traction. You want aggressive tread blocks, sure, but in the snow you want sipes that hold…
I am 100% on the drive what makes you happy. I would just point out that this incident shows why the Valiant is a bad choice for your winter car. Outside of the possibility that having flashers might have prevented the accident (no way to know, but at least possible), there is the fact that any breakdown becomes more…
First, hopefully everyone is ok.
Tell me you’ve never hiked in deep snow with saying so explicitly
I do in fact, especially in scenarios where my young stupidity could aid in someone making a better decision in similar circumstances. Doesn’t make it untrue.
This weekend, I went out hiking in the mountains and the road to the trailhead was bad. On the way out, there was a family in a current gen Jeep Cherokee that was badly stuck. The driver had used the all speed, no brains approach and gotten high centered. I towed them out and followed them back to plowed pavement.
I’ve always enjoyed the Gran Turismo series. My favorite of the bunch would be GT5 Prologue and GT5. It was this edition that was on the Playstation 3 for the first time. Besides the wide range of cars, I got to drive the digital version of mine, the Honda Prelude Type S (I had and still have the USDM Type SH), in the…
That’s a Lada rust!
*calculates*
I’ll be clever here and say the US actually doesn’t have a trillion dollars to spend on defense.
I really don’t get the “It’s an old platform” argument. So what?
It still passes all crash tests with great ratings
The v6 model has decent fuel economy
The suspension and handling are all great for a passenger car
What are you really looking for that that 20 yo chassis can’t do?
You act like this thing is built on a…
