I’m a pretty staunch VW enthusiast. I had an 07 GTI and now have a ‘12 GTI. I certainly don’t think VW has any excuse for what they did and I think those responsible need to be held accountable.

They used to be quite close. VW was one of (the?) first car companies to have iPad adapters and direct factory-stereo control of them. Sometime around the iPhone that tight cooperation disappeared and even when I worked at Apple, no one could tell me why.

This will probably work out worse for BMW and Daimler than it will for Apple. The Apple car whatever (and you still won’t convince me it’s an actual vehicle) is a pet project for them, like the Apple TV was, and continued to be until they got serious last year, and yet we STILL don’t have the fabled “Apple TV set”…
