Well, all I have to say is that back in the day you only had 2 buttons and a D=pad. But nowadays there are 2 triggers, 2 shoulder buttons, 4 face buttons, 1 home button, 2 thumbsticks that can be pressed down simulating a button (so add 2 more buttons to the total) and a D-pad. so lets count the totals:
