As others have pointed out, this is indeed what makes Doctor Strange such a difficult character to write. However, I think the movies did a pretty good job limiting his powers … provided that they come up with a reason why the Eye of Agamotto isn't used to solve every single problem.

Agreed on all points re: "Billy Madison". That surreal quality was never recaptured in any of his movies. "Happy Gilmore" and "The Waterboy" come closest with their high concept premise, but the rest of the movies are played awfully safe - no day-drinking penguin hallucinations, no weird-looking Bradley Whitford balls…
