I think you’re assuming that other tech companies that potentially infringe on these patents (like every other App Store, Messenger, etc) aren’t already paying a licensing fee. It’s much more likely the big boys like Google and Apple are already paying BT, like they do to license all the other patents they use.

Non-disclosure agreements typically won’t bar discovery if a lawsuit is actually filed. So, yeah, these numbers could come out. Even so, the plaintiffs could be barred by the judge from discussing the numbers publicly.
