Think it'll only work if data is a right to have, not a privilege. If they throw more things into this into Chrome, then I can see that working very well as a virtual desktop. Hopefully Microsoft makes Livemesh into something more than just a dropbox.
All great tips! Thanks! Don't forget F.lux, which I believe I found through this great blog as well. [lifehacker.com] using it since, and it makes a huge difference at night.
To answer the question, yes the built-in tools, with Microsoft Security Essentials is good enough for me, but I'd like things to be a bit easier and better. Regarding outbound firewalls, theory wise it can perhaps save you from things. I think this should have been explained more. You never know when something…
I've tried all of these except NOD32, just because it ain't free. Avast, I don't like the skinning. Skinning alone tells me it's using more resources than it should just to make those lame looking skins, native UI is enough. Didn't like having to renew manually when I tried it every year for a new free license eitherm…
Went from Adobe to Foxit, then tried PDFXC, and it really is something. I think it just wins because of the annotation tools included for free without the watermarks. It's the main reason I went from Foxit to PDFXC because of the annotation tools, like typing text in without saving the watermarks. It's really…
Been trying the Enterprise evaluation, realized one of my printers doesn't work.... . Microsft lied about the 100% compatibility I guess out of the box (printer works on Vista though right out the box). Upgrading for me depends if I can get my printer working... I'll see later today when I try to get the Vista driver…
I haven't played around with Windows 7 installation, but if its anything like Vista, can't you just clean install and have it move all the old files into the [Windows.old] folder on the host drive? Wouldn't that be almost quicker than upgrading? Instead of waiting 6 hours, just handle the clean install, then move all…
I might, since I can get it for 30$ as a student. But there isn't really anything that's grabbing me to go from Vista to 7, aside that 7 is my lucky number. #windows7
They gotta lower their prices on their phones, and sell unlocked phones in the US.
I've had one.
Think Google needs more desktop support, like some sort of notification system, don't like having my browser open all the time just to see if I got new feeds in Reader, or calendar alerts in Calendar. Sure there are third parties, but I'd like to see one from Google that uses little to no resources for this type of…
I have two devices, HTC Fuze and an iPod Touch. My phone serves as my PDA; contact management, email, calendar, and phone, and also my emergency emergency point-n-shoot camera. iPod is my internet tablet. I use it more than my phone for internet just because of battery life. Comapred to my fathers iPhone I'd rather…
Will they be updating their mobile counterparts? That's the real reason I use Newsgator so I can have my feeds on my WinMo phone and iPod Touch all synced up....
Was going to say I use NewsGator, forgot to though. Love how you can make a buncha separate Clipping folders to share certain things to.
Uh... well Mail tells me instantly when I get email, so I don't know where there isn't any push. Now if we're talking notifications, I can understand, why doesn't Mail have notifications? Pain in the butt to unlock and check if there's mail on the badge.
Notifier, Weathericon, Liveclock, and SBSettings are pretty much the only reasons for me. They fix the absurb shortcomings of the OS. (Why does email still not have push notification style alerts, I'd like to know when I get emails when its locked without having to unlock. Why does the weather icon display 73 degrees,…
Lol! Playing Sonic Unleashed, think I've logged about 10 hours so far right now. Pretty good Sonic game since SA series imo.
As others have mentioned Ctrl+E does the same thing. IE has all these keystrokes that FF has pretty much, except for that add-ons imo. Also something I found out recently Alt+Enter in the address bar opens the address in another tab, and ALT+Enter in the Search bar opens the query in another tab. No more Ctrl+T,…
I prefer using John's Background Switcher. Uses nothing if you set it up with Task Scheduler. It's also quite nice using Task Scheduler to program specific wallpapers for certain times of days, and certain days.
