"I did it all for the Wookie"
I'm not entirely sure what the world expects of Facebook. The problem isn't strictly "fake news", it's the fact that groups can spout lies. Regardless of whether that is called news, this will continue unless some top-level effort is done to force people not to lie. Which seems, I don't know, Orwellian?
Right after news of his passing, I immediately listened to "Is This What You Wanted?" It is far from my favorite song of his, but somehow it felt like the right tone to strike.

Thank you for your honesty, Sean. It really is the best tribute to Cohen.
Oh, thaaaat one
The short story this was based on came out in 1999. I don't think it cribbed from the underwhelming sci fi flick you're alluding to. My personal feeling was "wow, THIS is what [underwhelming sci fi flick's director] was hoping his film would pull off"
Hi Pete. As a former (extremely active) church kid, I find myself heavily drawn to art which comes from an ex-born-again perspective: your comedy is one example, the music of David Bazan (whose episode of YMIW was particularly wonderful) is another. This holds even when the bulk of the art has nothing specifically to…
Any hints yet as to which former P&R staff member actually wrote this?
I've been to 6 or 7 of them at this point. It's really just a living room, and it's as great as it sounds.
The douchebag in me is sad that all those 7"s I collected over the years (this started well before Pedro broke up) are now going to be available in one CD. But I'm glad more people will get to experience these songs.
What about the notion that Caitlyn Jenner is the only thing that can kill member berries? I'm afraid this is going to be some mean-spirited joke about her refusing to accept the past (hence being immune to everything pre-transition, including Mos Eisley and the Cantina) and hoping they have something more clever in…
It's great to see someone apologize before the court of public opinion has demanded it for a change. Decency. We need more of it.
Really enjoyed following you on this. I admit though, I was rooting for Bazan/Pedro to continue their clean sweep — I don't think he gets nearly enough love from the critical community. (The Headphones album is great too, but I can give you that one.) So it was a bit sad seeing you toss out Fewer Moving Parts so close…
"But then, for the first time in the history of veganism, something interesting happened."
Yes, in the grand scheme of the Party, Trump is the sort of logical conclusion of their worst pandering. But I don't think that's the same as saying "You, John McCain, personally created Trump." The sum of decades of partisan compromises and voter pandering created Trump, and McCain, more than most, was outspokenly…
Have we really gotten to the level of political discourse where John McCain is a "weasel"?
