A few comments in, I actually still can't tell if this is an elaborate joke, or if we've found the Platonic Ideal which all of the worst internet commenters aspire to become

Crossing my fingers for The Daily Show With Colin Jost

I think you're thinking of Speedball, the new Chris Matthews vehicle

Calm down, guys, Stewart and Andy Daly are just trading shows to make The Stewart Reviewart and the Daly Daily Show

Shrek 2 (including Accidentally In Love) was more of a Counting Crows vehicle. I know because I hate myself.

Shirley Manson Calls Kanye "Petty", "I Won't Back Down" Singer Files For Second Lawsuit Of The Grammy Season

If you mean "what was the reality behind the scene?" I have no idea.

Totally agreed. I'd personally love Whiplash to win, but would be happy with anything other than The Theory of Everything and American Sniper.

To be fair, if we read Kanye's rant literally he thinks "Flawless," Beyonce Video, AND Beck all need to respect artistry. I for one am sick and tired of Beyonce Video disrespecting amazing artists like Beyonce.

I used to have the same aversion, but I've really come around to Horatio's characs.

Update: "Raaaaaandy" was nowhere to be found. I like the new direction he's going in quite a bit.

I wholeheartedly agree: they're not groundbreaking but they have plenty of totally nice songs. Show me a person who claims to have never rocked out to "Life In The Fast Lane" and I'll show you a liar.

I wouldn't go as far as to call anyone ignorant for thinking they copied each other, but I do think the whole idea of owning a chord progression can't possibly scale. For one, you'd need to extrapolate out the key, because if I publish "Canon in E" no one is going to think I'm somehow writing a new song. Then,

I caught the Eagles when they were on tour supporting that Documentary. I had the same surprise: Glenn Frey and Don Henley really do seem like dicks.

Normally I reserve the weekend for catching movies in theatres, but due to SF Sketchfest, this weekend has been much more comedy centric than usual.

This is where I chime in again and say that if identical chord progressions = plagiarism, virtually no one is innocent. I actually find the Wonderwall / Boulevard of Broken Dreams comparison to be pretty ridiculous, since the vocal lines are totally different. Em G D A. You're within one chord of so many songs

To be fair, I tend to pull towards naive sympathy for both sides — sometimes to an unreasonable degree. I think our society has a totally absurd inability to admit that A) doing a shitty thing doesn't make you the epitome of pure evil, but B) doing a human thing doesn't absolve you of consequences. The uproar when

I'm pretty sure the etymology of "Jesus" is the douchiest possible reason (of a thousand good ones) to dismiss religion. Language evolves with the culture, and translating names is even hazier. I know the famous martyr as Stephen, I know a Greek Computer Science professor as Stefanos — both from the same original

I agree. It's more a frustrated desire to sympathize than a belief that I should.
