I’d agree with you if she had something other than conventionally attractive boobs with tiny areola. That’s a fashion go-to at this point. Get a chick like me with some naturally large & saggy boobs with HUGE areola, and then we can talk subversive.

“What does her daughter’s style choices have to do with feminism?”
soooo she shaves/waxes/lasers her facial hair (many pics of unibrow and mustache when she was younger) but she what, waits a few extra days to shave her legs sometimes? brave.
It’s an acronym that means “Definitely Advocate Dworkin”
You would think its not but ive received rude comments/stares/other peoples discomfort on behalf of my armpit hair many times
I mean, considering that Arvida Bystrom got death threats for baring her leg hair in a Nike ad, I think seeing women’s body hair is still relatively subversive. Nearly all the women I know shave it, and it’s still a taboo in offices etc.
is armpit/leg hair on a woman *that* subversive anymore? I mean yes... but like we arent that shocked. call me when celebs/rich girls start sporting their mustaches.
Totally relate to this. My ex and I split two years ago and still have times where I fluctuate between missing him horribly and hating him more. Mostly I’m angry at myself for allowing someone no longer in my life to dictate how I feel.
I am trying to save money so of course I did some impulse shopping this weekend.
I’m...uhh...wait....what? Is there cake in the break room?
I didn’t even get the worst bit: He’s Taking The Cat!
God is in his heaven and all is right in the world! I have had a truly nightmarish few days and even though I have been unable to log in for 3 months, was looking forward to reading all about everyone’s life this week. When SNS didn’t appear last night it was more upsetting than it should have been. Then, lo, this…
If I remember correctly, she was shortlisted for the Booker Prize many years ago but never won. You and I probably have several favorite authors in common--I’ll give Tomorrow a shot as per your remarks. Cheers!
A false sense of comfort.
Thanks. Trying to focus on this as an opportunity to get to know myself again, even through dumb little things. What kind of bookends or coffee tables do I like? Why kind of meals do I enjoy cooking on my own? How do I like to spend my evenings? I’d structured everything of the past 8 years has been through the lens…
I’m an introvert who is afraid to say too much about myself for fear that you would see how boring I am. *bows*
I have noticed that a lot of women either define themselves by their relationships to other people (wife of, mother of) or by what they don’t do (I never eat this or travel alone or do that). We need to be better and defining ourselves by who we are and what we do. We need to practice saying “I am a scientist,…
I wish I had a dollar for every “wife of” and “mother of” identifiers I’ve seen. I’m married, and honestly I never think of myself in terms of being a wife. I’m interested in sociology, and if I had the time I’d do some deeper research and write a book about this bizarre hive-mind.
Loved the English one, but never watched the American one. Didn’t like that actor who was in it.
I feel the same way. I seldom post on social media (I even skip most SNS if it starts late). I don’t have kids, either, and I have never wanted them, and it makes me sad to see so many women who have no identity outside of motherhood. Of course their kids are the most important thing in their lives, but must it be the…
