“I don’t know if what all these women are saying is true. Perhaps it is. Perhaps it isn’t,” he told Slate.

Yeah, ya know who was also not legally guilty (the first time) but was also a social pariah? OJ Simpson. I wonder if this guy has a hot take on that. Nixon literally committed treason and obstruction of justice but was somehow pardoned anyway. This is not a shocking new concept.

I didn’t read the Slate article, but did he even think about how this re-victimizes all of the people (mostly women, but includes one man) whom Ghomeshi abused? Somehow, I doubt it!

nor did he concern himself with the validity of the 20+ accusers.

Eat less bland potato salad?

And everyone wailing about “punishment”! As if social ostracism is somehow equated to being jailed at the hands of the state!

We are eating fewer calories than our parents and grandparents, but we’re putting on weight. Your “just eat less, silly!” take is not helpful. Dieting slows down your metabolism as your body tries to compensate. For _some_ people, you can lose some weight and hit a point where you’ve lost the weight but the

Doctors are well-compensated, so it’s understandable we tend to think of it as a good job. But their training is so traumatic-by-design it’d make the Marines blush, and in many ways nowadays their working environment is just as hellish as the average American workers. Empathy is pretty savagely beaten out of (most of)

Yeah, I’ve heard of that. It just seems like that’s putting a band aid on an amputated finger because you’re right, how are people going to get there and are the farmers markets open during convenient times. And what happens during the winter months? There has to be a way to get these products into stores in low

Wait...you didn’t know about the Twitter tribunals? We hear cases every Monday through Thursday.

I’m really happy that IF works for you and I hope it continues to do so!

That said, I really hope you reconsider your messaging and how you talk about stuff like this. I’m sure you mean well (especially since you’re having such great success) but your comment reads as dismissive of others’ experiences to the point that

At my next appointment we discovered I’m an inch taller than I thought I was and that made me magically no longer at risk of dying of the fat.

“Due process” is in a court of law. In a corporation, your employer can fire you because they think you aren’t doing a good job, or you have damaged the company. And in most states, companies can fire you on the spot.

Seriously, that’s literally like a pee and you’d be down that pound.

He didn’t suffer “the same fate” as Ghomeshi; he made an incredibly dumb decision as editor to run a very misleading piece and had to give up his job over it. He is not the first person to lose their job over making a dumb, work-related decision.

I would love to know exactly what he thinks “due process” means on FUCKING TWITTER. Like, dude, sorry not sorry, that phrase is strictly tied to legal proceedings. We’re perfectly entitled to make you a social pariah for literally whatever reason we want, just like men have been doing to women and POCs for

I checked the HuffPo link just to prove myself right. And yes, most of the comments are “This is the way to lose weight; it is the only way. Eat less/don’t eat carbs/don’t eat GMOs/don’t eat processed food/ don’t eat fat/don’t eat corn syrup/do intermittent fasting/eat more fat/lift weights/lift heavy/lift light/do

It’s an even more apt metaphor considering that dicks in the wilderness are basically graffiti, and that as these men are wandering out in the metaphorical wilderness (which, lol), still all they can see is the perceived value of their outsized, exaggerated presence and not the actual blight on the landscape that it is

That’s the part that bugs the hell out of me the most. There is a shockingly large body of research that shows doctors are awful at treating obesity. If obesity is a health condition that needs treatment, what they’re doing is equivalent to using leeches for a fever. It’s at best pointless at worse counter-productive.

Nice read. Wish there was more out there like it. Maybe we need a #metoo moment for big people.
