FF1 was barebones, but it's not like I hate Nas just because Illmatic (his first album) isn't as good as Life is good(his most recent). When FFV had a villain called ex-Death, that was it for me. The job system was the only thing that kept me hooked.

Judging DOA based on the Beach Volleyball games makes as much sense as judging Mega Man based on the Soccer game, which is none at all. DOA gets a lot of flack for it's emphasis on the female form, but it has a deep and compelling fighting system that's as complex as other fighters.
