"Seraphim Falls" starts with a nice snowy mountain chase. It ends in the desert, though.

Yes, and that can be odd with Scary Go Round since there were several years where he used a non-handdrawn art style. I started reading about when he switched, so it was strange reading new stuff that was handdrawn while going back through the archives which weren't. It was definitely worth the time, though.

There is that possibility, but Allison doesn't always give his characters a happy ending.

You could also read through Bobbins and Scary Go Round. It's worth it, I promise! So many people keep coming back, and Allison doesn't always make it obvious that they'd been important in the past. For instance, the reaper that Erin bargained away her soul to is an old girlfriend of Ryan Beckwith.

Didn't Campbell have a story in one of his books about finding where he'd scratched "Briscoe County Jr. was here" on a beam on a Fox set when he did an episode for X-Files?

I don't remember when I started reading Scary Go Round, I think it was around when he switched to hand drawn art, so I must have been reading when Erin was turned into an amazon and then ripped from reality. I missed him mentioning he felt she was a misfire. I just figured she was another casualty of a writer who's

Well, we aren't alone in the opinion. He's stated several times in his blog posts that his readership dropped alot when he switched from Scary Go Round to Secret Machinery, and that he sees spikes when he does stories around the older cast members.

Buy it now. By the time it comes out in a collection you'll have forgotten all about the money you spent on the floppies and you can buy it again! At least, that's how it seems to work with me.

The current Bobbins arc felt pretty much like a regular Allison story to me. Although, considering The Boy's previous encounter with Devil Bears led to him and Esther hooking up, I was expecting a better outcome for Boyce.

I've often said that if I had a time machine the first thing I'd do is go back to high school/college me and beat some sense into myself.

I'd be really sad if he wrapped up the Tackleverse. I've been relishing this latest run of Bobbins comics. I much prefer his adult characters to the kids.

I'm glad to hear this. The review above made it sound like it was more mundane than what he usually writes. I'll have to head to the comic store tonight.

Yes, the litany of canes at the end is great.

I just started rewatching the show yesterday. I didn't realize it was the 20th anniversary. I was glad to see "Cane" on this list, since it's one of my favorites.

I'm midwestern born an raised. "Fine" is high praise here, but the horrible veneration of the mediocre that seems to pervade midwestern modes of thought really irks me. I'm sorry for throwing some flak your way because of that. But there's so much awesome stuff to experience that when I see people use middling

I can see that, but most of my friends who adore the show hadn't watched any of Whedon's stuff before, or even after, watching Firefly.

"Fine". So, boring? Sanitized? Insipid? Marketed to the lowest common denominator?

And how many of your average AMC viewers are going to recognize who Bill Hicks is.

I watched Firefly as it aired. It was okay, especially compared to what else was on network tv at the time. I'm completely mystified by it's rabid fan-base, though.

I'm liking this comment if only because I haven't seen a comment from you before, and the music in my head just doubled in tempo.
