Because he gunned it while entering unsafely...

In the heat of the moment, I’m sure he thought Vettel deliberately obstructed him and made the call.

The stewards made a questionable call which sucks for the sport and this season but Seb made the mistake that put him in this position in the first place. I’m sorry to say it but he’s simply not at the same level as Hamilton. I honestly don’t think many are. Leclerc is too young and needs a season or two to develop.

Vettel did what he does best. Crack under pressure.

Well, I guess my opinion isn’t going to be popular... Vettel went off the track. He came back on and veered into the racing line before gaining control, forcing Hamilton to slow down and slide most of the car off the track. He broke the rules and was penalized accordingly. The ruling the stewards gave after the race,

Might want to revisit some of Dany’s decision-making in previous seasons. There were more than just two episodes to this arc of evil.

Lots of Uber drivers were taxi drivers until Uber undercut the entire taxis industry through unfair competition. All Uber has really done is put downward pressure on wages by using investor money to subsidize transportation. If they don’t figure out self-driving cars soon, they’re gonna have to raise rates or they’ll

So what you’re saying is that Uber, Lyft etc should be classified as Taxi services and their employees treated as such rather than the bullshit “carpool service” or whatever they spew to avoid giving workers decent pay and rights?

Not always. Rules on becoming a taxi driver varies from place to place and depending on whether you are a livery taxi (NYC yellow taxi, London Black Cab, etc.) or a informal taxi service (NYC gypsy taxis, London minicabs,Pennsylvania Amish Taxis). Uber and Lyft are crowdsourced taxi cab companies.

Great post. These comments are horrifying. The sheer vitriol of many people here is astounding, especially given how incredibly misinformed they are. This is a company which advertised itself as providing a full-time job–hence the class action suits in California, which Uber lost. Really despicable to see this kind of

Indeed. And, as all these angry commenters mention, if we are meant to take taxis instead since with their logic, Uber and Lyft drivers would cease to exist, then how the fuck are we supposed to find them? They don’t have apps that pinpoint your exact location in relation to their cars, and actually calling a company

This. This is the most logical comment of all.

Man, these comments are super disappointing - why are yall so adamant about sticking up for corporations? Are they paying you?

Let’s go over some things here:

1. Back in 2015, Uber and Lyft actually did pay a very nice wage. Remember all the fluff pieces backed by Uber and Lyft talking about drivers earning over 100K

They’re the ones doing the work, they’re the ones making Uber money. If the company treated them as employees then this would not even be an issue.

Remember, just because somebody spends 12 hours a day doing something doesnt mean they deserve to get paid a full-time salary for it.

You make it sound like the drivers are working for a couple of hours a day and expect that to provide a living wage. They are probably driving 12 hours a day. Why would that be considered a side gig? Are taxi drivers, who also have the option, in theory, to only drive part-time, also doing side gigs?

Everything you just listed is a good thing, Uber doesn’t deserve to exist.

Side gigs still pay employees minimum wage.... So while I don’t fully understand your point, I just want to clarify that these people do indeed have a job, they drive for Uber. They would just like this job to be treated like almost every other job. Only an idiot wouldn’t get that.

If people didn’t do this full-time, the platform would die, full stop. Rides would cost far more and service would be slower (or nonexistent) pretty much everywhere.

Dear Uber drivers. We understand your concerns and are working on replacing you with automation as rapidly as we can. Thank you for your patience in the mean time.
