I'm a little surprised they didn't include the Damian Rice version of silent night. It comes on so late after the last song on the album, its totally unexpected. And the first time I heard it killed me. The vocals, the new lyrics… heartbreaking and sublime.

I was at the ski jump competition at the 88 Winter Olympics in Calgary. By the time of the jump,we had all heard of and loved the story..all of the qualifying jumps, I think helped to give time for us to find out about him. he was a goofy looking guy, with glasses as thick as Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys. I

I believe it was Matti Nykanen. I could be wrong.. but I was there, so it probably doesn't count..

My best wedding story was when we were hired to play a wedding on a Sunday night, and then one week before the wedding, our band was cancelled, but instead some of them were rehired as a pre dinner combo, and I was hired separately to play dinner music. When I showed up for the gig, the others (who were playing

Well, yes and no, it turns out.. According to that link, and the comments that follow, he did perform other tests. But the other tests appear to have had different, less percentages of obedience because he was introducing additional aspects into the study, proximity to the test subject, for instance. in those cases

What happened to them? From what I heard, they had a great sound.. I wish I had heard them when they were still playing. I mean, I assume they're not playing now..

Years ago I was in a band that played at a wedding where he was the best man. On one of the breaks he went up and did a little solo song on the guitar for his buddy. It was pretty great, but I didn't get a chance to meet him, as I thought it would be rude to bother him - dude was a guest at a wedding and probably

The Odds.. forgot about them… Hey, I finally heard an eastern band called Lowest of the Low.. thought they were pretty cool, although not sure if they broke out of the ontario scene at all.. do they count?

I was going to mention skinny puppy, but wasn't sure people would still know them.. nice to see.. what about Swollen Members? I always thought they were kind of cool…

Well, yeah, they are probably not top tier. I was trying to provide a bit of an array of styles.. hence the Godspeed You! Black Emperor reference, which is not for all tastes.. some of Hedley's stuff isn't bad though..

No probs..

Actually, that works for me. Now I can finally rest easy. Never understood why they didn't catch on.. although having said that, have not heard any new stuff for quite awhile…

well, yeah.. thats true.. I kind of hesitated on that one… but some people might find it catchy… so I threw it in, and hoped no one noticed. But I see that you are more than a match for me. (I can't remember which monty python skit that comes from, but the line always makes me smile)

Tragically Hip.
Magic!, Steppenwolf, Chromeo, Hot Hot Heat, Arkells, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Hedley, Smalls, Walk off the Earth, Serena Ryder, Great Big Sea, Sam Roberts, Blue Rodeo, Metric, Broken Social Scene, Tegan & Sarah, Sloan, the Band, July Talk…as a start…

Hey rich guy! While you're at it, any chance you could fork some money over for a Better Off Ted movie? Or anything really. a couple of shows, a special .. not picky.. just that I loved both those two shows equally, and I would hate to play favourites…

Thanks Burl! I used to say it that way, and somewhere along the way I thought I was mispronouncing the name, and then changed it to what I thought was odd.. I double checked, and I was right the first time so I am now going back to the proper name Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie, which makes far more sense…what a silly

Wow.. a reference to Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie on AV Club… Now I've seen everything.. Thanks for making my day!

For L, has anyone seen "Late for Dinner"? I thought it a charming, beautiful little love story about two friends that get frozen in time for twenty or so years (it takes a bit of 'splainin..) and the one guy goes back to court and win back his love that he lost out on so many years ago.. Really sweet. And while not

I saw that, but the humour of it escaped me until just now.. :)
