Not exactly a *new* idea. There’s plenty of dealerships around here who specialize in selling used “southern cars”. Every weekend they’re going down south and hitting up the auctions, and buying anything rust-free and 4wd. They’ll bring them up here and sell them for a $1000 or so profit per vehicle.

Picking nits, but technically the car doesn’t weigh 1616 lbs (the minimum weight). It actually weighs a couple hundred pounds less, likely around 1300-1400lbs, before fuel is added. The remaining weight is made up in a rather significant amount of tungsten ballast, and human ballast (i.e., the driver). All said and

I 100% did this with my 1992 Dodge Spirit in the last 90's. Was at the mall during Christmas-time, and hopped in a car that I thought was mine. Wasn’t until I turned on the radio, and found it on a station that certainly wasn’t mine that I noticed it was actually a Plymouth Acclaim in the same color. Drove it back to

I guess I have to give her some credit - she did do better than I likely would

Is it just me, or is this some of the most ill-fitting bodywork we’ve seen on an F1 car in a while? The crooked access panel on the front of the halo is really bothering me. Maybe it’s just the all-white that’s making it stand out more, but there’s been plenty of clean all-white cars recently as well.

Considering he’s been living on the Churchill diet for a few decades, would you expect nothing less?

I always felt a 944 Turbo/S2 with the good bits of a 968 made the best combination (door handles, mirrors, rear hatch/spoiler)

You’d be right

That’s what I’m thinking - we had exactly 3 days in the month of January this year where it didn’t drop to at least 25*F.

Honestly, if I were going to be wearing my heavy winter gear for three or four hours (which is basically what they do during the ceremonies), I’d much rather be in 25* F weather than 55* F weather.

What surprises me here is not that they’re closing stores (the writing has been on the wall for a while), but that somehow my local store made the cut and will survive.

With the benefit of a third party view, it seems obvious that the Toyota should’ve moved - even if it just had to back the car into the yard behind him. But in reality, I’m sure there was an element of panic setting in there.

Exactly, I’m not a bank - if you want a loan, go to a bank. If your credit isn’t good enough for the bank to give you a loan, that doesn’t really help your argument to get a loan from me.

Be careful with that - you could easily find yourself on the wrong end of a lawsuit. There’s been more than one thief who won a lawsuit against their victim, due to injuries sustained during the attempted theft.

I’d be willing to bet a (road course) Cup Car would do quite well on the ‘ring. It’s really a power track, and power is one thing the Cup cars have.

^ This. I’d love to have a daily driver version of one of these cars. And before you jump in with “STI”, “Focus RS”, “Golf R”, etc... while those are all good cars, they’re all much larger than these cars.

The ‘old’ Subaru STI was the perfect size for me, but the later ones are more than a foot longer than they used to

Worst snow drive I ever had was when I got caught in an unexpected heavy snowstorm with my STI while still riding Bridgestone RE-01R’s (basically autocross tires).

Ok, I guess “unexpected” may be a bit lenient on myself. The snowstorm was well publicized, it just wasn’t supposed to hit until 6pm, and I figured I could

I too have had all the combinations in all the weathers, and while I completely agree - any of the combinations of drive wheels can work just fine in any snowfall, as long as you have the right tires, there are still some advantages to different drivetrains.

FWD has the advantage of letting you “pull” from the front

My Fiat 500 Abarth will auto-deploy it’s parking brake whenever I hit a pothole on a really cold day.

The issue is that the rubber boot around the parking brake is rather stiff when it’s cold, and since I always have the brake on when parked, it develops a sort of “memory” of the “up” position. Thus, even when I put

Every manual transmission car I’ve ever had has done this

I suspect that’s probably involved here as well. Perhaps not with these particular skiiers, but someone else up the line is creating undulations that are echoing down the line.
